Give a personal and unique touch to
wooden cabinets by painting them
all by yourself. There will be none other than you, who can make
the furniture stand out by adding more elegance and grace to it
according to your choice and taste. Painting wooden cabinets
can also increase their life by making them good enough to last
for a few more years.
The
following steps will help you to paint your wooden cabinets.
Steps for Painting Wooden Cabinets
Always use good quality paint as it lasts longer. Never use sub-standard
paint as it can destroy your cabinets. Choose colors that make the
kitchen look
spacious and roomy.
Use washable paint so that if the cabinets
get stained, it can be cleaned easily. Apply light colors on dark
colored wood as it will make the cabinets look spacious. However,
light shades easily get stained and are not easy to maintain. Before
getting started, make sure you have plenty of time to paint them
at leisure. Pay special attention to the exterior of the wooden
cabinets, as it will be noticed at first glance.

the scratches and fill in those holes.
Step 2: You can close these holes by filling in wood putty.
Step 3: Remove the old wooden knobs. Store
them properly along with their nuts so that at the time of assembling,
you find them easily.
Step 4: Scrap the old paint off the cabinet with help of sandpaper.
Step 5: Paint the cabinets
with the primer and allow them to dry completely.
Step 6: Paint the cabinets with base color of your
choice. Allow it to dry completely.
Step 7: Use a small paintbrush to paint the cabinets
well.
Step 8: Always keep the cabinet drawers on a flat surface where there is proper ventilation so that the paint dries quickly.
Step 9: When the paint is fully dry, attach the
drawers and doors to the cabinets. If possible replace the door
knobs with new ones to give a new look to the cabinet.
Tips for Painting Knobs
Placing the knobs (one at a time) in a vice may help you paint the fine details.
Make sure that the knobs are completely dry before reattaching them
to the cabinet. If the paint is still wet and they are fixed, it
may ruin the paint of cabinets
too. Try to keep some extra paint, so that if some of the paint
wears off you can easily repaint it.
